Like you, this statement had a profound affect on my thinking as a teacher and as a professional developer. Being able to convey the"more than we can tell" is the key to learners understanding and becoming "expert thinkers." I believe that one way to convey the "untellable" information is by knowing how and using the arsenal of strategies and enhancements at our disposal in classrooms and when teaching other teachers. It is all about teaching. Good teaching is good teaching whether the learner is a child or an adult. Therefore, as a teacher, I must have complex communitcating skills. Again, the use of SIM strategies and enhancements is a logical step in improving communication skills for teachers. “We know more than we can tell.” Like you, this statement had a profound affect on my thinking as a teacher and as a professional developer.
